| This Corporation are to restore the original teachings of the Buddha Sakyamuni, to establish the Sangha community who observes the original dharma and precepts, and to embody the community of Original Buddhism that reflects “accordance with the Sutras and precepts, respect for monks and nuns, and harmony among the seculars, equal rights for both genders, and secularism”. | ||

| 2 | The thought of this Corporation is based upon the original dharma, mainly in the common Sutras of the seven categories, namely “Causation (Correlative Conditioning)”, “Noble Truths”, “Nutriment” , “Realm (Element)”, “Darkness (Aggregate)”, “Six Sense-bases”, and “the Path (including the Four Foundations of Mindfulness)”, which are in the Chinese translated Samyukta-Āgama of Ananda lineage and in the Theravādin Pāli Samyutta-Nikāya of Upali lineage. | |

| This Corporation is organized and guided by the Sambodhi Sangha, supported by lay disciples. | ||
| Activities: | ||
| 1 | To hold study classes, seminars, and symposiums about the history and geography of Indian Buddhism and Original Buddhism in order to promote and restore “the original dharma” and “the precepts for liberation”, which were recited and collected at “the First Buddhist Council for the sutras and precepts”. | |
| 2 | Based on the original dharma and precepts, to hold meditation retreats and camps of becoming novice monks or nuns, to promote and carry out “the Practice Stages of the Bodhi Path” and “Middle-path meditation”, preached by the Buddha Sakyamuni. | |
| 3 | To assure that the lineage of “Original Buddhism and the Sangha community of Original Buddhism” can be established firmly in the U.S. | |
| 4 | To organize and establish centers of Original Buddhism for group study and meditation. | |
| 5 | To promote communications and unity among the Sangha communities of Original Buddhism in the world in order to help materialize an international community of Original Buddhism. | |

| Regulations: | ||
| The Sambodhi Sangha of O.B.S. cherishes lives and preserves ecology. Having a foothold in the Chinese world and observing the original precepts, the Sangha respects Chinese virtuous religious traditions, and does not consume coffee, tea, snacks, fish, and animal flesh. The Sangha does not accept, accumulate, or use money. There is also no “kappiyakāraka” as a servant to accept, manage money or donations. | ||
